Joško Renčel - Slovenia

Joško Renčel is an artisan winemaker from Slovenia. One of those artisans whose wines are an extension of themselves, representing their passion and beliefs.

His wines come from a very special soil, that of the Carso-Karst, a land located between the Gulf of Trieste in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the Vipava River Valley in Slovenia. Here the soil is known as “terra rossa”, rich in calcareous sediments that you can feel in your glass.

Joško produces wines not for the faint of heart. His Teran goes into the market after two years of ageing while his white wines age longer, up to four years. His Sauvignon stays in contact with the skin for four days while his Vitovska and his Malvazija spend one month of skin maceration.

This is the right way for making them beautiful examples of what an Orange wine from the Karst should be.
